"IDENTITY" A POEM READ BY KEMI BONUOLA AT LOUDTHOTZ OPEN POETRY READING JANUARY,2012

IDENTITY.

They called me olubukola
But you can call me buki
I have two tribal marks
There is my identity

He called me Aya
But you can call Mrs.
I have two rings
There was my identity

She called me mama
But you can call me mama tola
I have two and three stitches
There, the Identity I bore

I call me Ms
I don't care what you call me
I have two broken ribs
There, now
Here, now
Is my identity

KEMI BONUOLA
